Find out which school year you need to select on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit your application or renewal FAFSA to the federal processor. We strongly encourage you to use your PIN to file the FAFSA. UNLV's school code is 002569.
Watch this video to find out when you should complete your FAFSA application.
Review your FAFSA for accuracy. If corrections are needed, use your PIN to make adjustments online. The U.S. Department of Education will forward your corrected FAFSA information to UNLV.
Retain signed copies of your completed federal IRS tax forms. Many applicants for federal aid are required to submit last year's tax forms to the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office for review.
If applicable, the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office will notify you to request additional documents that are needed to finalize your financial aid. Most documents may be downloaded and printed here.
Once we receive your completed FAFSA information and you have been admitted to UNLV, a Financial Aid Award Notification Letter will be mailed to you. Students are notified of financial aid awards for the upcoming school year as early as mid-March. In general, if you are already admitted to UNLV, have completed your FAFSA, and listed UNLV as receiving your FAFSA results, UNLV should notify you of your award within two to three weeks.
Promptly notify the office in
writing if you receive any scholarships, grants, loans, or other forms
of financial aid that are not listed within your UNLV financial aid
account.
